Dr. Watts’ passion for animals started when he was young. He grew up listening to his great-grandfather’s stories of being a veterinarian and wanted to grow up and be a veterinarian himself. One of his biggest achievements is starting CCVC and building a state of the art practice facility in order to bring his vision of high quality veterinary care and exceptional client service to Culpeper County. He is a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM), Dr. Watts also holds a degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Maryland and a graduate certificate from Purdue University. Prior to opening his own practice, Dr. Watts served as director of Centreville Animal Hospital, a six-doctor practice in Northern Virginia. Dr. Watts has served as an adjunct professor of the Northern Virginia Community College, a committee chairperson for the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, President of the VMRCVM Alumni Society, and a mentor for veterinary students. An award winning veterinarian, Dr. Watts is widely recognized in the veterinary community of both Virginia and Maryland. His weekly newspaper column can be read in the Culpeper Star-Exponent and Culpeper News every Sunday.

Dr. Myers grew up surrounded by her best friends – her animals. Her early love of horses blossomed into countless hours spent rising through Pony Club and competing in dressage and eventing with her first horse Cinnamon. Her study of horses included in-depth first aid, which was what led her to a love of veterinary medicine. Dr. Myers attended Davidson College where she graduated with a degree in Fine Art and the courses necessary to apply for veterinary school. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, one year behind Dr. Watts. Before joining CCVC, Dr. Myers had extensive practice experience in Ruckersville, Culpeper, Sperryville, and Middleburg. Many of her loyal clients have followed her to our practice. Dr. Myers has clinical interests in surgery, accupuncture, the growing knowledge about cats and their specific needs, and senior animal care. She is also adept at integrating herbal and nutritional therapies into her patients’ treatment. Dr. Myers is a long-time resident of Rappahannock County and enjoys hiking, gardening, writing, weight-lifting and martial arts in her free time. She delights in her family of 4 rescued cats and 2 beautiful yellow labs.

Growing up, Dr. Hamblen had a love for medicine, science, and animals. As a teenager, she started working in veterinary medicine and never looked back.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech.  A big Hokie fan, Dr. Hamblen stayed in Blacksburg to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Hamblen’s work experience includes over a decade at Centreville Animal Hospital, the same practice where Dr. Watts spent the early years of his career.  She has a growing interest in internal medicine and allergy cases. Her hobbies include cooking and baking, working out, going to the beach, VT football, and hiking with her dogs.Dr. Hamblen is a lifelong resident of Fairfax County where she lives with her husband Andy, a Great Dane named “Roman” who loves to sun bath and a Chocolate Lab named “Moose” who loves to eat and play ball.

Dr. Dodson wanted to be a veterinarian since she was about 5 years old. As a teenager she started volunteering as a kennel assistant and then took a paid position which she worked every summer even through college. She continued as a full time vet assistant after graduating from Liberity with her undergraduate degree until she was accepted into veterinary school.  Dr. Dodson is a graduate from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medical Biology from Liberty University before going to veterinary school. “I want to be an advocate for pets and help the animals that give us so much love, but cannot speak to tell us when they are hurt or need help. I also want to improve the human-animal bond by helping owners to understand their pets and improve quality of life on both sides of the bond.” Dr. Dodson and her husband, Eddie, live just outside of Culpeper with their corgi-mix, Mia and their cat Mr. Sakamoto. In her free time she enjoys yoga, reading, cooking, going on walks with Eddie and Mia, and working on DIY projects around the house.

Dr. Lazar is a board-certified veterinary surgeon who performs orthopedic and complex soft tissue surgery in CCVC’s state of the art surgical suite.  He earned his Bachelor degree from the University of Virginia and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  He completed internships at the Animal Medical Center in New York City and Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Maitland, Florida, where he also completed his surgical residency.  He achieved “Diplomate” status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2003.  He lives in Fairfax County with his wife, two sons, and a plethora of pets including dogs, cats, birds, snakes, and fish.

Our Head Technician, Cheryl earned her degree in Veterinary Technology and passed her Virginia licensing boards in 2001. Before joining Clevengers Corner Veterinary Care in 2007, Cheryl headed the nursing staff at McLean Animal Hospital, a large AAHA accredited practice in Northern Virginia. She has special clinical interests in dentistry and animal behavior. She became Fear Free Certified in 2019. Cheryl lives in Bealeton with her husband, son, daughter, four horses, three dogs, a cockatiel, chickens, and numerous cats.

Susan earned a degree in Veterinary Technology from Blue Ridge Community College.  She brings years of experience in several small animal veterinary practices in the Shenandoah valley.  She enjoys outdoor activities and playing music with her family.  (Susan is our resident fiddler.)  She lives in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband, son, two cats, two horses, and a dog.

Margaret has been working in the veterinary field for over 15 years. She earned a degree in Veterinary Technology through AAHA sponsored program at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster Texas as well as has a bachelors in Psychology and masters in Experimental Psychology. Margaret loves being a Licensed Technician because it offers a great combination of working with people, pets, nursing care, laboratory work and problem solving. On her free time she enjoys gardening, baking, camping, hiking, swimming and reading. Margaret resides with Mike and their son in Prince William County along with their border collie “Annie”.

Lisa graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and later graduated from Penn Foster with her degree in Veterinary Technology in 2018. Lisa has a growing passion for emergency medicine and surgery. She plans on going back to school to get her bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology in the near future. Lisa lives in Culpeper country with her husband and 3 children along with their animals- 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 rat, 2 birds, 7 chickens and their cow Tinkerbell.

Jessica is a certified phlebotomist through ASCP.  Her original intent was to enter human nursing, although we were able to convince her to work in veterinary medicine.  She loves spending her free time with her kids, hiking with her husband. Jessica lives in Stafford with her husband and 3 kids as well as their two dogs- Bridgette and Russell and two cats- Rosie and Winifred.

Michelle’s professional background includes several small specialty retail establishments where she polished her exceptional customer service skills. She also brings remarkable patience and compassion from her experience working with elementary school children. Michelle claimed Culpeper as her home in 1982 where she currently resides with her husband and two children.

Meghan is a graduate of Culpeper County High School and has career aspirations of becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician.  Prior to joining CCVC, Meghan worked for a dog training facility and rescue group.    Meghan lives in Culpeper with her family, five cats, two dogs, and an occasional foster pet.

Olivia is a lifelong animal lover. Prior to pursuing her passion for veterinary medicine, Olivia had an exciting lacrosse career. Her accomplishments as a player and coach spanned the country, from Virginia to California to Hawaii. Olivia graduated from Fauquier High School and Lord Fairfax Community College. She also attended Virginia Tech as an Animal Sciences major. Olivia is now attending Cedar Valley Community College. She is in the process of completing the LVT online program.  She lives in Fauquier County with her son and her pitbull mix, “Dude.”

Cayla is a graduate from Culpeper County High School and has career aspirations of becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the near future. In her free time Cayla enjoys swimming and spending time with her family and friends. She currently lives in Fauquier County with her husband, son and her two dogs, five cats, four chickens, and one duck named Buck.

Rachel lives a few foothills away from CCVC on ten acres with her parents, two sisters, and three of her five brothers.  She is particularly fond of animals, and loves her family’s twenty-eight pets; Quinque, Megan, Ruby, Phoebe, Copper, Rascal, Merry, Bucky, S’more, Cookie, Freckles, Speckles, Silver, Sunny, Sally, Penny, Muffy, Wiggun, Big Graygun, Keet, Jed, Jarry, Josiah, Jeordie, Milly, Mabel, Chiquita, and Dave.  She is currently a student at IUE, pursuing a BS in Mathematics.

Mary moved to Virginia from Massachusetts in 2011. She obtained her AS degree in science and began working as a Lab Technician in 1996. In 2011, Mary became a Veterinary Assistant and has a passion for our feline friends.  Mary and her husband are the proud parents of twins (a boy and a girl), 4 dogs, and 6 cats!

Meghan is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech’s Animal and Poultry Science program, tracking pre-veterinary with a concentration in Equine studies. Meghan aspires to be a veterinarian, hoping to practice in both small animal and equine medicine. While at VT, she was the president of the Equine Reproduction Club and formerly participated on the Equestrian team. Now in a gap year, she has applied to veterinary school and currently lives at home with her Boston Terrier best friend, Champ. In her free time, Meghan enjoys crocheting custom dogs and other unique pieces for her small business.

Keegan graduated from Culpeper County High School with an advanced degree and all honors in 2018. She plans on furthering her career by going to vet tech school to work with large animals. She previously worked on her aunt and uncles dairy farm in Wisconsin and has a passion to work with cows. Keegan is a free spirited person who enjoys traveling, being outdoors and painting. She lives in Culpeper with her family and her 2 dogs- Atticus and Rascal.

Formerly a resident of Warrenton, Melissa recently became a resident of Culpeper after living overseas for the past five years. Melissa has a love for animals, science, and medicine, and aspires to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She is currently enrolled in San Juan College’s Veterinary Technology Distance Learning Program. Along with world travel, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, swimming, scuba diving, and gardening, as well as baking, knitting, and spending time with her husband Rob and their five cats Abu, Bentley, Charlie, Curly and Ozzy.

Willie was just a kitten when he came to our clinic in 2008. He had no home and had a severe injury to his right eye. After two surgeries and lots of TLC, Willie has become a happy, healthy, one-eyed clinic mascot. He enjoys greeting our clients and likes to beg for food. Willie tries to become friends with our canine patients, but is frequently jealous of other cats.
